Cannady Hall Technology and Furnishings
Rice Architecture is the smallest professional degree program situated within a top research university, allowing individual attention with the breadth of study afforded by a larger university. Rice Architecture has been part of the university since Rice’s founding in 1912. The current building, Anderson Hall, was built in 1947 and is located on the academic quad. It gained an expansion in 1981 with generous open spaces. Over forty years later, Rice Architecture is adding a much-needed expansion to enhance the student space and experience. The William T. Cannady Hall building will be completed in late 2023. Part of this expansion will be to house state-of-the-art technology to increase the scope of study for students attending the program. The William T. Cannady Hall Technology and Furnishings Fund will allow Rice Architecture to expand its curriculum in the field of technology and digital fabrication. An area that is a creative and increasingly important part of the architecture and building community. William T. Cannady Hall along with this technology will further elevate the school’s teachings and enhance Rice Architecture’s number-one ranking and competitive status.
Gifts of any size to the Technology and Furnishings Fund will have an immediate impact on accomplishing the following goals:
- Recruit world-class undergraduate and graduate students by expanding the curriculum to include technology and digital fabrication on a large scale
- Increase the student experience and caliber of graduates that go into the workforce, while also expanding the graduates’ career options
- Maintain and further enhance Rice Architecture’s number-one ranking and top-tier status
