The Shepherd School of Music Gifts
This #GivingTuesday the Shepherd School of Music is proud to highlight Musicians United for Social Equality (MUSE). The mission of MUSE is to heighten the awareness of underrepresented musical voices who have contributed to the tradition of Western art music, and to equip the Shepherd community with the tools to address the issues specific to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Through our work, we aim to foster a healthy, safe, and proactive environment that is adaptable to the evolving field of music.
Your contribution of any amount on #GivingTuesday will help expand our programming initiatives to invite BIPOC artists to give presentations and masterclasses, enhance our community engagement with area schools, and provide graduate application fee waivers.

“My founding membership and participation on the MUSE Taskforce has been some of the most inspiring and important work I have been a part of in my academic career — and it was one of my introductions, as a relatively new faculty member, to the Shepherd School community. The initial conversations that defined our purpose, and the ensuing work that has charted our course, has placed the school shoulder to shoulder in the creation of transformative efforts for uprightness. While there is still much more to learn and many more steps to take, I have full faith that this taskforce will make a significant difference in our school, our university, and our community at large.
